Filip Surmont, is a physician and global life sciences executive with over three decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, medical affairs, and pharmaceutical leadership across the U.S., Europe, China, and emerging markets. With 16 years in clinical practice—including sports medicine for Olympic-level athletes—and 18 years leading large, cross-functional teams in global pharma, he has driven healthcare transformation at scale through real-world evidence, guideline adoption, and system-level innovation. He has held senior leadership roles at AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Wyeth, spearheading landmark international studies, influencing global treatment guidelines, and improving access to care for hundreds of thousands of patients. As Founder and CEO of Element Eleven, he now advises pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO organizations worldwide, helping translate scientific innovation into commercial and clinical impact. Dr. Surmont holds an MD from the University of Ghent, advanced training in sports and tropical medicine, and executive education from Harvard University.
