Muktar Aliyu
Dr. Muktar Aliyu, MD, DrPH is Professor of Health Policy and Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Director of the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health, where he also holds the Endowed Directorship in Global Health. A physician-scientist and academic leader, his work spans global health, implementation science, and clinical research, with a focus on strengthening health systems and translating evidence into real-world impact across diverse populations. He leads multiple U.S. National Institutes of Health–funded research and training programs in Nigeria and collaborates broadly with academic, governmental, and industry partners to advance sustainable, data-driven healthcare solutions. Through clinical practice, education, and large-scale research initiatives, Dr. Aliyu has contributed to improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes in both domestic and international settings.
Dr. Aliyu is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the Nigerian Academy of Science.
